Our head coach, Sean Valentine, has done an amazing job of putting together
a draft Team “Bible”, which is now available as a pdf (Adobe Acrobat)
download from the club website. (click
here)
So far, the “bible” contains information on the Red
Mountain Racers’ guiding principles, programs, expectations for parents and
athletes, a list of club executive members and coaching staff, tips for ski
tuning, a pre-race trip checklist and more.
The club executive is considering making the Team “Bible” a living
online reference for everything members need to know, including club policies
and procedures.
Thanks very much for getting us off to such a good
start with this, Sean!

BC Alpine
recognized the first issue of the new Red Mountain Racers News by awarding it a
“gold medal” in its Bell Mobility
Alpine Update on March 6th.
Newsletter editor Steve Hilts said he hopes that this
new communication tool will serve several important purposes:
bringing
all the key club news together in one place for members’ convenience and to
help everyone feel part of the race club
highlighting
athletes’ accomplishments to inspire them to higher goals
putting links to the club website, as well as
other ski racing websites, into everyone’s inbox on a regular basis to draw more people to those sites
reminding members of upcoming events and
alerting them to opportunities to get more involved

Red Mountain Racers fielded 5 teams at the ANGSL West
Kootenay Zone Finals at Whitewater on March 9th. Course conditions were very challenging, with lots of fresh
powder falling throughout the day. The
ruts were waist high to a Snow Tiger by the end! The free-skiing was to-die-for and the Nelson Ski Team and
Whitewater Resort put on a great event, including the free lunch for the
racers.
The Red Mountain Snow Cats, Snow Leopards and Snow
Hawks picked up bronze medals and the Snow Birds and Snow Bears got silver.

Mars/Hershey Cup Spring
Series
March 29 – April 1 at Red
Mountain
“This is a fun wrap-up to the race season, following the Canadian
National Championships at Whistler and it will showcase some of our
nation’s most talented ski racers.”
RMR
will once again host this exciting series of GS and SL races, featuring
FIS-level (15 years and older) athletes who compete on the Mars Cup race
series. Most athletes will be from BC,
Alberta and Saskatchewan, but we also expect to see athletes from the U.S.,
overseas countries and members of our Canadian National Team, such as Thomas
Grandi, Eric Guay, and David Anderson.
Many volunteers are needed to host such a large event,
so if you can help, please contact Kris
Tudor. We especially need some more
gate-keepers, manual timers and course workers.
Sunday March 16 at Salmo
Salmo Ski Team is hosting a make-up race for E2s – to
replace the race that was cancelled in February. This race is on the same day as our ANGSL wrap-up party at Red,
but the E2 race should end early enough to allow you to make it back for the
start of the festivities.
